Technical Questions

Q: Help! I can’t find any place to enter this long key code!

R: That long key code is for turning the trial version of the download game into a permanent, full version (Windows only). First you download the TRIAL version of the game by going to the main page at http://www.mindhabits.com. Click in the middle where it says “Download the Trial”. Install this on your computer. The first time you run the game you will notice an option at the bottom middle of its first page that says “Already Paid?” Click there and enter your name and key code combination.

Q: My key code doesn’t work or is expired.

R: We apologize for this inconvenience. Please email Andrew at info@mindhabits.com and he will generate a new one for you.

Q: What is this password for?

R: The password is for logging in to the website to play the full version of the games. Use it along with your email address at http://www.mindhabits.com to gain access to the full version of the game. All non-windows operating systems must use the online version of the game to play right now, and many Windows users do it anyway because they can log in from any computer in any place.

Q: I lost my password.

R: Go to http://www.mindhabits.com and click at the login box where it says “Forgot Password?” Enter your email address and a new one will be generated for you.

Q: Can I change my password?

R: No, we’re sorry but this feature does not exist right now.

Q: When will Mind Habits be available for Mac/Linux/Other?

R: It is now! In addition to the Mac and Windows download versions, as a user of any operating system that can access web pages you can access the full version of the game on the website itself.

Q: What are the system requirements of Mind Habits?

R: Mind Habits will work on virtually any current machine with standard web access. The web version will work on any operating system with a recent web browser and a working Flash plug-in. Go here to get Flash: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash The download version of the game requires Windows XP or Vista and a graphics application called Direct X (at least version 8). Get that here: Direct X8 Une version téléchargeable Mac sera également disponible prochainement.

Q: I can’t get Mind Habits to display properly on my Windows machine.

R: A very small subset of users are reporting display configuration problems with Mind Habits. First, make sure you have Direct X 8 or higher installed. Get that here: Direct X8 If that is not the problem, try setting a manual override of your screen refresh rate. To do this, go to your Start Menu, click Run. Type in dxdiag and click OK. Select the More Help tab and click the Override button. Select Override Value and type in 60. Click Ok. To reverse these settings follow the same steps and then unclick the ‘Override’ button. If this doesn’t work either than most likely we don’t know what is happening with your machine. The game is relatively new and we have not had the opportunity to test it on the many hundreds of possible hardware and software configurations that are out there. It may be best to play the game from the website itself in this case, as your web browser constrains the aspect ratio of the game it sidesteps this problem entirely. Email Andrew at info@mindhabits.com to get a password.

Q: Why does my mouse pointer keep jumping all over the screen when I try to play Mind Habits?

R: This is most likely a problem with aspect ratio as well, look at the answer to the preceding question.

Ordering Questions

Q: Is the $19.99 price a one time fee or is it a recurring fee?

R: It is a one time fee that gives you access to the current selection of games forever, including newer versions of currently existing games.

Q: Is there some other payment method than credit card?

R: There are numerous payment methods, including credit card, Paypal, having the charge added to your phone bill, giving your credit card by phone rather than entering it on the internet, or even mailing a check the old fashioned way. If you’d like to do that, direct it to this address for ($22 CD, USD or its equivalent in your local currency): MindHabits Inc. 4851a Henri Julien, Montreal Quebec, Canada, H2T 2E2

Q: How long will it take the game to come in the mail?

R: There is nothing coming in the mail. The game you purchased is available soley on this website (with your password), or as downloaded software from this website (Windows only). To download the game, go to the main page and click in the middle where it says « Download the Trial ». As a paying member you will be given a key code to turn this trial into a permanent, full version. If you have already paid and never got a code, or lost it, contact Andrew at info@mindhabits.com.

Q: Could you please mail me a disc?

R: If you would like a disc for whatever reason we could burn a CDR of the software and mail that to you, but it will be just that, a copied CD labeled in black marker. There are no printed discs of this game at this stage ; the game is intended to be downloaded directly from the website. There will be many versions of the game in due time, but for right now this is it.

Q: Can I buy Mind Habits in a store?

R: No, as of now Mind Habits is available only through the web site. There are new versions under development however, check back for information.

Questions about the Game

Q: How does the demo differ from the full version?

R: The online demo is limited in the number of levels that are available, and by the fact that you can not create a profile and record your scores. The download demo is limited in the fact that it will only play for 60 minutes before locking up.

Q: Why can’t I change my personal information in the online game?

R: This feature does exist but has somehow become disabled. In the meantime, please go ahead and email Andrew at info@mindhabits.com and he will change your settings for you.

Q: Will this game lower my blood pressure?

R: It just might. It has been shown to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol by 17% after just one week of playing five minutes a day, and one of cortisol’s well documented effects is to raise blood pressure, among its other negative influences on health and happiness.

Q: Why isn’t the game recording my scores?

R: There are two possibilities. One is that you are not doing your daily trackers. To correct this simply do the trackers, which you will find at the bottom left of the main menu under Toolbox. The other is that you have not created a profile for yourself. You will find this under the Toolbox section of the main menu as well.

Q: May I install this on multiple computers?

R: Yes, you may. If your key has expired, just email Andrew at info@mindhabits.com to get a new one.

Q: Can I share this with my family?

R: The download version comes with 10 profiles, available under the Toolbox list of options at the bottom right of the main menu. If you play through the website, you will need a different email and password for each user. Email Andrew at info@mindhabits.com for help with this.

Q: In what languages can I play Mind Habits?

R: Right now there is English and French, and you can change it from the Game Options. Many more languages are coming in the near future.
